Well Hello There!

There must be something about the month of February that is uninspiring. And that is all I'm going to say about that!

Nevertheless, March is here and so is the red-winged blackbird! Spotted a juvenile at the feeder this morning. Truly felt sorry for the poor thing in this frigid weather of -8˚C (-15˚C with the wind)! The fields are peppered with returning Canada geese. Bbbrrrrr! Note the date: March 5! Last year was March 12. With the mild winter we had, they had to come out on its coldest day!

OK Jennifer. I will blog about the soup kitchen. Not today though. But by the week's end. Thanks for reading my little blog. And how 'bout putting a picture in your Member Profile. You got the time to figure it out ; ) ... How do you like your spider? Leave me a comment, they make me happy!

Blogging out loud on the 401

It's the eve of Christmas Eve and we're driving to the Laurentians: Jim, Whiskey and I. I never thought I'd surf the net while driving let alone blogging while driving! Truth be told, Jimmy is doing the driving. I am a happy passenger. Lots of holiday traffic and the 401 is busy. I'm not a fan of this highway. Here comes an ambulance.

We drove through a bit of a squall around Port Hope - Cobourg. Not much snow anywhere. I don't know why we refer to a snow less Christmas as a green Christmas. Things look rather brown to me. Water levels are extremely high.

CBC is on. I've travelled this route often and I know most of the frequencies by heart from 99.1 to 98.7 to 107.5. The wine guy is on and he's covering a question about Prince Edward County wines. Hhmm, not a fan of County wines, although I want to be. He's talking about mouth drying tanning.

Napanee. Deseronto.

Stompin' Tom is on! Merry Christmas everybody and Happy New Year all year through. Living Out Loud. Good show.

Go south Canada geese, go south! I worry about these birds. While I was having my morning coffee on Wednesday, hundreds of them flew over the house, their racket so loud I had to step outside to watch them fly by.

Kingston: home of Canada's first prime minister! Cataraqui River. Limestone. Snow on the ground here.

Gananoque. Ah, the Thousand Islands. I would live here. A dusting of snow covers the evergreens.

Brockville. I see a boat on the river.

Grenville, Québec. Almost there! Signing off! The sunset was picture perfect with lots of snow on ground and trees.

Joyeux Noël!

Red-Bellied Woodpecker

What a beauty!
Bonne Fête Daddy! XOXO

It is so exciting to spot a never-seen-before bird. Sitting in the sun room having my morning coffee reading The Cat's Table, I looked up to see a different looking woodpecker at the peanut feeder. I quickly grabbed the binos to get a good look: definitely bigger than a Hairy; slender head with interesting orange plumage; and would you look at that beak -- oh so long! Most woodpeckers have similar black and white barred upperparts. I suppose it is to simulate the bark of trees. According to my reference books, this pecker is common. Welcome to you Madame Red-bellied Woodpecker! I hope you stay awhile.

BTW, I've loaded the new Blogger interface and quite like its sleekness. I'd love to hear your feedback blogger friends.

New Blog Header...Work in Progress

Comments please!!! I've been meaning to try this ages ago. I had to get my ducks in a row before I could execute the plan. I have looked high and low for a way to customize my blog header. I tried this dinky online design site but was never satisfied with the end result. This is version ONE.

Tell me what you think. Please send me your constructive criticism.

I simply used Publisher!

Who's in for a January Saturday blog-a-thon down at the club? Annika? Diane? Dick? If so, there's homework! Everyone must bring a design tip to share. How 'bout it?

Social Medias

I am so far behind the times. I spent a lot of time this week trying to design, template, colour, populate, gadget, widget and midget my blog. Results = big O. So I emailed my blogging guru for HELP! She sent me a few tips via email and then kindly offered to meet up to show me the ins and outs. How generous is that!

In my failed attempt to get blogging, I must confess that I was put off by the "in your faceness" of certain things like this one: "Flickr is more fun when your friends use it too! Get started by finding your friends on Facebook, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, or Windows Live." I don't do Facebook and probably never will. Why? I like my privacy. So between not making any progress and having my privacy menaced (drama, drama, DRAMA!). My desire to blog was quickly dwindling dot dot dot

I met with my teacher today and accomplished so much. This blog is my assignment. How did I do Diane?

A Muse

I received an email from a blogger friend. Her blog inspired me to start one of my own. Thank you my muse! What really gets me is the "stop to smell the roses" approach to her content. We rush through life doing. How often to we stop to appreciate? The objective of this exercise is to do just that, reflect on the things that I enjoy.
